PPM Calculator

1. What is a PPM Calculator?

Definition: This calculator converts between various concentration units: Number, Percent (%), Per Mille (‰), Parts per Million (PPM), Parts per Billion (PPB), and Parts per Trillion (PPT).

Purpose: It is used in chemistry, environmental science, and engineering to convert between different units of concentration for analysis and reporting.

2. How Does the Calculator Work?

The conversions use PPM as the base unit:

\[ \text{Percent (%)} = \text{PPM} \times 0.0001 \]
\[ \text{Per Mille (‰)} = \text{PPM} \times 0.001 \]
\[ \text{PPB} = \text{PPM} \times 1000 \]
\[ \text{PPT} = \text{PPM} \times 1000000 \]

Explanation: The calculator converts the input value to PPM, then calculates all other units. For example, 1% = 10,000 PPM, 1‰ = 1,000 PPM, 1 PPM = 1,000 PPB, and 1 PPM = 1,000,000 PPT.

3. Importance of PPM Conversion

Details: Converting between these units is essential for understanding concentration levels in different contexts, such as water quality, air pollution, or chemical formulations.

4. Using the Calculator

Tips: Enter a value in any field (>0), and the other fields will be disabled (grayed out). Click "Convert" to see the results in all units. Results are formatted with appropriate precision: 6 decimal places for Percent, 3 for Number, Per Mille, and PPM, and 0 for PPB and PPT.
